Bombardier has launched the Challenger 650, an upgraded version of the Challenger 605.

NetJets is the launch customer, although its order was originally placed in 2012.

The Challenger 650 features upgraded General Electric GE CF34-3B MTO engines, each capable of delivering 9,220 lbf of thrust.

This gives the aircraft a greater payload capacity, as well as shortening the distance the aircraft needs to get airborne.

Bombardier has also taken on-board the design lessons from its Challenger 350, and have completely re-imagined the Challenger 650 cabin, which includes a redesigned galley and seating.

“The Challenger 650 jet enhances our leading business aircraft portfolio, the largest within the industry and will establish new standards in its segment” said Bombardier Business Aircraft president Éric Martel “This aircraft will provide our customers with the ultimate in-flight experience, a superior baseline offering and the lowest direct operating costs in its class. With the Challenger 650 jet, they will have it all.

NetJets placed a firm order with Bombardier in June 2012 for 25 Challenger 650s, with options for an additional 50 aircraft.

Bombardier says it will deliver the first aircraft to Netjets in 2015.
