Hawthorne Global Aviation Services recently hosted an aviation event at Cobb County International Airport. It was attended by 300 people, and supported by the Georgia Business Aviation Association.

The event showcased the new improvements and services at Cobb County International Airport, the first Atlanta metro-area general aviation airport to offer on-site US Customs inspection and staff, with customs services.

In addition, more than six business jets were on display, including an Embraer Legacy and Phenom 300, Gulfstream G550, Dassault Falcon 2000, Citation Latitude and King Air 350.

“We had many of the Atlanta regional aviation professionals join us to see all the improvements at Cobb County that really do make it “Atlanta’s New Choice” in airports.”

Dave Kucko, general manager, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services FBO said: “We had many of the Atlanta regional aviation professionals join us to see all the improvements at Cobb County that really do make it “Atlanta’s New Choice” in airports. Tours were provided of the dedicated General Aviation Customs and Border Protection facility (the only one in the greater metro Atlanta area) and the new control tower. We had a professional chef provided by Clorox / Kingsford Charcoal preparing the main BBQ and our on airport restaurant, Elevations Chophouse, provided all of the sides and a cool place to eat with a fantastic view of the static display.”

“The aircraft manufacturers were very supportive with Gulfstream providing a G550, Embraer with a Legacy 450 and Bombardier with a Lear 75.  We also had local aircraft support from SWT with a Carbon Cub, Flightworks with their Twin Caribou and Plastitech with an L-39 and an R22 helicopter. This event showcased to the regional aviation community what a gem that Cobb County International Airport has become to the area. With all of the growth in Cobb County to include the new home of the Atlanta Braves, SunTrust Park, just miles from the airport Cobb County is poised to handle all corporate and general aviation traffic whether it be domestic or international,” added Kucko.

“This airport is no longer the country airport north of Atlanta but has grown to be a state of the art facility that can handle the newest class of corporate business aircraft and we have several fortune 500 companies flight departments here and can boast having more G550’s based here than anywhere else in the state of Georgia. That coupled with over 500,000 sq. ft. of hangar space that can accommodate up to a Global Express or G650, a dedicated general aviation customs facility and an airport in the heart of the one of the fastest growing areas of metro-Atlanta will propel us well into the future as the airport of choice in the metro Atlanta area.  Many thanks to the Georgia Business Aviation Association (GBAA), Cobb County International Airport and all of the attendees for coming out to support us here at Cobb County as “Atlanta’s New Choice” in airports,” said Kucko.

The Hawthorne Atlanta FBO has hangar space capable of accommodating up to G650 business jet, a passenger terminal, amenities such as pilot lounges and conference facilities. Hawthorne Atlanta is a full-service Shell Aviation fueling station.

Bryon Burbage, president and CEO of Hawthorne Global Aviation Services said: “Our Atlanta FBO offers the best in classes services for private jet travellers and we are thrilled to show it off and share it with the local community at this terrific event today.”

Cobb County International Airport is the second busiest general aviation airport in Georgia, and offers the longest general aviation runway in the Atlanta area.  The airport is managed under the guidance of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.
