According to a report on the Avherald website, a German registered Bombardier Challenger 604 has been written off after being caught in the wake turbulence of an Airbus A380 that passed overhead.

The Challenger 604 involved is believed to be 2000-build Challenger 604 msn 5464 / D-AMSC.

The incident occurred at FL350 600nm south east of Oman on January 7.

The Airbus A380 passed 1,000 ft above the Challenger 604. Several minutes later the wake turbulence from the A380 hit the Challenger, sending the aircraft into an uncontrolled roll.

The aircraft dropped by 10,000 ft before the crew were able to regain control, and restart the engines, which had both suffered flame-outs.

The crew declared an emergency and diverted the aircraft to Muscat, where it was later declared a write off.

Several people were hurt in the incident, and were taken to hospital. One passengers injuries were described as serious.
