Bermuda registry expects new structure to contribute 10% growth

A change in structure at the registry of Bermuda from a government department to a semi-autonomous administration is expected to help increase the number of aircraft registered on the island by up to 10% over the next three years.

The shift, which allowed the registry to become more business focused, was first made six months ago, with director general Thomas Dunstan using the time between to create a new business plan, and planning for market growth.

“After over 85 years of registering aircraft, the decision to transition to an authority was
made to reduce the restrictions that apply to the public sector, and use the newly formed authority to
maintain safety oversight, increase productivity, enhance customer satisfaction and ultimately grow the
Registry. said
