Cardiff Aviation is partnering with Serco to deliver painting and finishing services to commercial and government organisations at its facilities in South Wales.
Cardiff Aviation and Serco have formed a new partnership.
Cardiff Aviation, an MRO business in South Wales, has partnered with Serco, a UK government services company, to provide painting and surface finishing services to commercial and government organisations in the aerospace, engineering and automotive sectors from its facilities at St Athan.
Cardiff Aviation was launched by Mario Fulgoni, founder of Astraeus Airlines, and Bruce Dickinson, singer of Iron Maiden and experienced pilot, in 2012.
Dickinson joined Aeris Aviation, the European dealer for Eclipse Aerospace, as non-executive chairman in October this year and represented the company at NBAA 2013.
The new partnership between Cardiff Aviation and Serco, combines Cardiff Aviation’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services with Serco’s experience in the military aerospace re-finishing sector.
Fugoni said: “This is a great opportunity for us to develop a comprehensive painting capability on-site adjacent to our hangar facility and provide additional services to our MRO customers, as well as servicing UK aerospace industry needs in this sector. It is the first step towards expanding our painting capability to include aircraft painting in the near future.”
Karen Smart, Serco’s director Front Line Command said: “Serco has extensive experience in the military aerospace re-finishing sector and we have worked with the RAF for many years. This agreement with Cardiff Aviation means that we can bring that capability and expertise to the commercial aerospace and vehicle markets, whilst also supporting growth and regeneration in South Wales.”
Dickinson announced at the Paris Airshow this year that Cardiff Aviation received a £5 million investment, with £1.6 million coming from Finance Wales, a UK SME investment company.
Cardiff Aviation reportedly created 40 jobs between May 2012 and July 2013 and Dickinson and Fulgoni have both expressed an interest in launching an airline.
