Dassault has opened a new MRO facility in Bordeaux.

The new 7,200 sq. meter hangar is adjacent to the company’s Falcon production lines and can hold six large aircraft at the same time.

With the first batch of Falcon 7Xs delivered due to have their major C checks soon, the new Bordeaux MRO will compliment the company’s Paris Le Bourget facilities.

“This additional capacity will permit DFS to keep up with the steady growth in the Falcon fleet, which currently numbers 2,100 aircraft worldwide and is expected to expand significantly with the arrival of the Falcon 8X, which started deliveries last month.” said Eric Trappier, chairman, Dassault Aviation.

Dassault held an opening ceremony on November 11 to inaugurate the new facility. As well as Dassault employees, the event was attended by local dignitaries, including Alain Juppé, president of the Bordeaux Metropolitan Area.

The new MRO facility will handle other scheduled maintenance checks as well as C Checks, with Dassault saying that a range of structural repairs, avionics upgrades and cabin refurbishments will be available.

The first Falcon arrived at the MRO on October 17, and was returned to service on October 28.
