Deliveries of Embraer business aircraft slid by 24.3% in the first half of 2018 when compared to the same year-ago period.

Overall, the Brazilian airframer delivered 31 executive jets in this year’s first half, down from 41 in the first half of 2017.

The only type that saw more deliveries than the comparable previous period was the Legacy 450, with the six deliveries coming in one aircraft higher.

The 450’s larger stablemate, the Legacy 500, saw its deliveries slide by 75% from four aircraft to just one.

The steepest unit drop was with the Phenom 300, which dropped three deliveries from 20 to 17.

The Phenom 300 had been the most-delivered business jet in any category in the four years leading up to 2017.

However, the Challenger 350 took the crown in 2017, when it delivered 56 units, two more than the Phenom 300.

The second quarter marked the transition from the Phenom 300 to the Phenom 300E, a newly enhanced version of the Phenom that includes an updated cabin and a new Lufthansa ‘nice’ onboard entertainment system.

Embraer delivered the first aircraft to a South African owner in April 2018, that took delivery of the aircraft as a replacement for an older Phenom 300 that it operated.

Business-jet manufacturers remain coy on the number of orders that they receive unless they are significant.

During the first half, Embraer announced that it had received an order from Air Hamburg for an additional four Legacy 650Es. Once all aircraft are delivered, the Germany-based company will operate a fleet of six Legacy 650s.
