Gama Aviation, a private jet operator, has received a Swiss Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA).

The certificate allows Gama’s team in Geneva to offer third party charter out of Switzerland on the company’s own fleet of business jets.

The first Swiss-registered aircraft is a Gulfstream V, capable of carrying up to 16 passengers, which has moved over from Gama Aviation’s managed fleet in the UK.

The Gulfstream V joins an eight-seat Learjet 45 on Gama Aviation’s UK AOC, which is already being marketed out of Switzerland.

The intention is to add more aircraft to Gama’s managed fleet out of Switzerland, complementing the company’s existing activity in Europe, Russia and the Middle East.

Gama Aviation opened its office at the Geneva Airport executive terminal in November 2012. It is  headed by Captain Hamish Ross, who also serves as a line pilot with Gama on the Challenger 604 and 605.

“This is an excellent time to secure our AOC,” said Ross. “There is strong economic development in Switzerland with the emerging high tech industries, finance and private banking sectors and strengthened interest for corporate travel.”
