Gulfstream has officially acquired NORDAM’s G500 and G600 nacelle production line, including all of its assets.

The Savannah-based airframer originally paid $18 million dollars in early September to allow NORDAM resume production of the engine casings for its newest aircraft. That came after NORDAM had ceased production in July, following a protracted contract dispute with Pratt & Whitney Canada. NORDAM built and supplied the engine casings to Pratt & Whitney Canada, which used them on its PW800 series engines, which power both the G500 and G600.

NORDAM entered into US Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July, having spent over $200 million on the development and production of the nacelles. A US Bankruptcy judge agreed the acquisition by Gulfstream on September 26. No details of the deal have been released.

“Gulfstream has a 60-year history of manufacturing and product excellence that will serve our customers well as we assume responsibility for nacelle production,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “The manufacturing of this component is firmly in our wheelhouse, especially since we also manufacture the wings and empennages for these aircraft.”

Gulfstream delivered the first G500, msn 72010 / N510GD, to a Texas-based customer on September 27.
