Hawker 125 N600AE missing in Dominican Republic

A Hawker 125-600FA registered as N600AE has gone missing in the Dominican Republic.

The 1976-build Hawker 125-600A registered as N600AE / msn 256068 has disappeared after taking off from Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport on Wednesday 10 September.

The flight departed at 22:42 local time on a flight to Punta Cana, but vanished from radar shortly after departure.

Air traffic controllers tried unsuccessfully to contact the aircraft up-to 10 minutes after the aircraft took-off.

The Dominican Civil Aviation Authority (IDAC – Instituto Dominicano de Aviacion Civil) confirmed that the aircraft took-off but never arrived at its destination. A statement read: “A flight plan will never be fulfilled.”

Although the aircraft had two pilots on board at the time of its disappearance, it’s unclear if the flight had any taken any passengers or cargo for the flight.

Local authorities later released details stating that the aircraft had taken on enough fuel to fly for three and a half hours.

According to online mapping service Great Circle Mapper, the distance between Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport is 139km / 75 km.

Local news portal Dominican Today reported that the aircraft may have been in storage at Las Americas Airport for up to five months.
