Jenny Lau, president of Sino Jet Management, has been appointed as chair of the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA).

Members voted today at the association’s Annual General Meeting. The votes were split equally between Lau and David Dixon, president of Jetcraft Asia. Dixon stood aside.

“My goal is lead the members of AsBAA to educate and lobby local governments and regulatory agencies about the financial gains, industrial growth, jobs and recognition that are brought to the area by business aviation,” said Lau. “In return we can obtain more resources and support from them to improve the operational condition of business aviation.”

Dixon, Phil Balmer, director of maintenance for TAG Aviation Asia and Gary Moran, head of aviation Asia at Aon Singapore, are the new vice chairs.

Lau replaces Charlie Mularski who had held the role for four years. Kevin Wu from Textron and David Best from Jet Aviation have also stepped down as vice chairs.

“I am committed to continuing the good work of the previous chair and vice-chair. As a team, we will work with continued focus, connecting people and creating opportunities for the industry.” said Lau. “Government liaison continues to be vital; we will create an action plan to ensure the industry message is heard through AsBAA”.

Best and Wu will join AsBAA’s Board of Governors. Best will also continue to manage AsBAA’s relationship with the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

“In stepping down from AsBAA, the outgoing vice-chairs and I feel absolute confidence in the new board of directors: Jenny Lau, David Dixon, Gary Moran and Phil Balmer.” said Mularski. “We have great representation across the region in this team, along with influence, experience and complete dedication to the development of business and general aviation in Asia. We will ensure the new board is fully supported in this transition period to ensure the ongoing interests of our members are fully represented”.

Lau founded Sino Jet in 2011. It was acquired by Tsinghua Holdings Industry Investment Fund in 2014, and merged with Big White Bear Jet.

It currently manages 30 aircraft in Beijing and Hong Kong, including a Legacy 650 owned by action movie star Jackie Chan.
