London Biggin Hill is celebrating an early Christmas present, with news that it is one of the fastest growing business aviation airports in Europe.

The latest data from business aviation research company WINGX Advance shows that the airport enjoyed a 23% year-on-year increase in departures during November and a 16% increase for 2017 – four times the average year-to-date growth rate for business aviation in Europe.

London Biggin Hill business development director Robert Walters (pictured) attributed the increase to new facilities and to the businesses based at the airport that makes it a “major centre for engineering and aerospace innovation”.

He added: “We look forward to another landmark year for London Biggin Hill in 2018.”

The airport, a designated UK Port of Entry, is 12 miles from central London and offers VIP handling, a choice of FBOs, hangarage, and support and maintenance services for all ranges of business jets. It also provides a helicopter transfer service to and from London, and is home to more than 65 commercial and aviation companies.

It opened a new 60,000 sq ft hangar earlier this month, part of an infrastructure development project that includes offices and additional ramp space.
