London City Airport’s new look private jet centre

Since refurbishing its passenger lounge and streamlining services, London City Airport Jet Centre expects to attract more leisure and business flights from corporate jet users.

London City Airport completed an extensive refurbishment of its private jet centre this summer and Axel Ienna, director of business aviation, expects to see the jet centre sustain the pick-up it saw in the weeks following the refurbishment.

Speaking in June 2013, Ienna said the airport handles 12-13 private jet flights every day and data from WINGX Advance confirms that London City Airport saw 5,550 business jet movements throughout 2012 (an average of 15 daily movements).

Changes to the centre’s departure and arrival procedures have now reduced passenger waiting time to just 90 seconds, which Ienna believes will increase the number of leisure and business flights passing through the jet centre.

Ienna did, however, admit that the fees charged by the airport were deterring some clients from using the airport.

“Obviously, our pricing we always hold back some customers,” he says in the video above. “The premium we charge, we think is justified by both our location and the service we provide.”

French-born Ienna has previously worked for NetJets Europe.
