Toby Neugebauer of Houston, Texas, has secured the first delivery position for the new Nextant 604XT. The 604XT is a remanufactured Challenger 604 that features the Pro Line Fusion cockpit by Rockwell Collins.

Nextant announced the launch of the 604XT programme in May 2017, at EBACE in Geneva.

Neugebauer selected the standard configuration, which addresses pending regulatory requirements including ADS-B Out, along with optional upgrades that include TCAS 7.1 and MultiScan Threat Track Weather Radar.

He said: “The Challenger 604 is the perfect aircraft for my mission requirements. The plane offers an exceptional combination of cabin comfort, performance and operating economics. Now, with the introduction of the 604XT upgrade, Nextant has solved the pending regulatory and obsolescence issues that were facing much of the original cockpit technology.

“This solution is perfect for my needs. By allowing me to access the latest in forward fit avionics technology, they have created a solution that offers an overwhelming value proposition which in my mind is a no-brainer.”

Jay Heublein, Nextant executive vice president, said: “We are excited to formally name Mr Neugebauer as the launch customer for the 604XT programme. We appreciate his confidence in Nextant and look forward to working with him for years to come.

“The entire programme has been extremely well received and we are expecting market penetration rates north of 75% relative to the total in-service fleet, which should make this one of the most successful remanufacturing programmes ever.”

Nextant confirmed that the certification programme is ahead of schedule, with first flight scheduled for this month and final certification for both FAA and EASA still on track for June 2018.
