Will’s advice

“It is extremely worthwhile, right of the outset of deciding to invest in a corporate jet, to be realistic as to the actual use of the equipment. Where will it be flying? How much will it be used? Will it be available for charter? Focussing on these types of issue will allow a prospective buyer to understand their actual need and the available options for operation. This forethought really helps when putting together the final transaction structure and mitigates against last minute hiccups. I have often seen aircraft purchased on the basis of what they can do and not what they can do for the buyer with clients having to react to issues at a late stage.”

“I came into the legal industry with grand plans to be a media and entertainments lawyer. However, my first training rotation was in an asset finance team specialising in aircraft. I really enjoyed the bespoke nature of the deals I was working on and how every transaction presented at least one new issue. Throughout the rest of my training I did not work in any sector that I found as interesting and so the choice in the end was a simple one.”
