Will the Channel Islands aircraft registry really work?
Oklahoma. The Cayman Islands. Aruba. The Isle of Man. Bermuda. Malta. There is no shortage of places to register aircraft. But we may soon have one more with Guernsey and Jersey, two islands in la Manche or the English Channel, between France and England, planning to launch.

Politicians estimate (and, surely, no politician would ever exaggerate figures) it will bring in $30 million of revenue to the islands over the first three years. This is ambitious. No registry is right for every transaction – and each of the existing registries has advantages and disadvantages – but it is hard to see how the Channel Islands can truly differentiate themselves from the others – particularly the Isle of Man, its closest geographical rival.
